Day 1 : Chacan Full-Day Trek

Day 1 : Chacan Full-Day Trek

  • Your trek will begin in the early morning in the Plaza de Armas, Cusco’s main square, from where you will hike up through a eucalyptus forest beside the Saphy River.
  • After an hour and a half hike, the Chacan cave comes into view. It is known as the Temple of the Rainbow because of the small waterfall inside the cave that reflects rainbow rings off the sun's rays. You will have the chance to swim in the waterfalls and be surrounded by these rainbows. It is an incredible feeling both refreshing and spiritual.
  • Chacan is a beautiful, quiet, and mostly unknown place, as is your next destination: Cusiyuchayoc, commonly known as the "Zona X.” This is one of the most enigmatic places to be found in Cusco’s surrounding area. There are a number of natural tunnels as well as pre-Inca and Inca structures under the earth's surface. Your guide will take you through these subterranean passages during the early afternoon.
  • The tour continues to the Temple of the Moon, a natural rock structure that has a man-made altar on which the full moon shines at certain times of year. On these specific days, shamans and spiritual groups gather here in order to celebrate the full moon and receive its energy. But even during the afternoon one can appreciate the beauty of the temple.
  • After your tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Cusco.
